Lack of resources for action against antimicrobial resistance could have an adverse impact worldwide. In 2017, the World Bank found that by 2050, annual global GDP could fall by up to 3.8% due to the effects of antimicrobial resistance. That 3.8% translates to over 3.4 trillion U.S. dollars in annual economic loss.
